The Pearson\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0PTE Academic<\/a>\u00a0exam is recognised by<\/strong>\u00a0Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada<\/a>\u00a0as a Secure English Language Test that can be used for the country\u2019s regular study permit application stream.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Separately, the testing provider has also announced it has<\/strong> launched SELTs in Nigeria for individuals\u00a0wishing to work, study or come to live in the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Also known as non-Study Direct Stream, the Canadian application stream tends to be used by international students who are not eligible for the expedited<\/strong>\u00a0Student Direct Stream.<\/a><\/p>\n

Announced in 2018,\u00a0the<\/strong>\u00a0SDS stream<\/a>\u00a0can accept both<\/strong> IELTS Academic<\/a> and IELTS General<\/a> test scores the High Commission of Canada in India<\/strong>\u00a0reminded<\/a>, while\u00a0only<\/strong> IELTS Academic<\/a>, TOEFL iBT<\/a> and<\/strong> PTE Academic<\/a> test scores can be accepted for the\u00a0non-SDS stream.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIndian students can take advantage of the fact<\/strong>\u00a0PTE Academic<\/a>\u00a0is one of the mandatory English language tests accepted by Canada for its regular study permit application stream, also known as non-Study Direct Stream,\u201d\u00a0Marlene Olsavsky, managing director for Pearson Canada said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cTest takers have a choice of more than 30 PTE center’s currently open in India, including in Punjab, Gujarat and Hyderabad, all with required health and safety measures in place,\u201d she added.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 2020, a further 46 organization’s have recognised<\/strong> PTE Academic<\/a> in Canada \u2013 bringing its the total number of education establishments accepting the test in the country to 194.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Around\u00a090% of Canadian public universities now accept the test, Pearson noted.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPTE is a seamless experience for students from start to finish, from being able to book a test slot online and<\/strong> year-round, through to only having to wait up to 48 hours on average to receive results,\u201d Olsavsky explained.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they get their PTE score, students are then able to send it to any number of universities they are interested in, unlike other English tests which limit the<\/strong> amount of institutions where a score can be sent.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

PTE\u00a0Academic<\/a> is available in\u00a0over 80 countries, and it is en route to reaching\u00a0100 countries by the end of 2020. More than\u00a085% of test takers receive their results in less than two days.<\/strong><\/p>\n
