#800080;\">appointment\/interview<\/span> with the embassy.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Complete the <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Portugal student visa application form.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">Collect the documents<\/span> needed for the application.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Pay the required <span style=\"color: #800080;\">student visa fee.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li #000000;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">If you are in Portugal with a student visa, then you are allowed to bring your dependent family members to live with Portugal together,<\/span><\/strong><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">Or they may apply for <span style=\"color: #800080;\">a reunification visa<\/span> after you have settled in Portugal.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Duration of a student visa in Portugal<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">After you receive your visa at the Portuguese embassy, you have to travel to Portugal and apply for a residence permit at the sef.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">The residence permit for studying is issued for one year,<\/span> and you can renew it annually until the end of your studies.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The student visa you receive at the embassy is only valid for <span style=\"color: #800080;\">three months<\/span> which allows travelling to Portugal.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Within those three months, you have <span style=\"color: #800080;\">to get your residence permit settled, after which the permit replaces the visa.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Make sure you apply <span style=\"color: #800080;\">for renewal\/extension of the visa at least 30 days before expiry.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Can I stay in Portugal after my studies?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can stay in Portugal once you finish your studies only if you have a job offer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You and your employer must meet the requirements for a <span style=\"color: #800080;\">Portugal work visa in order for you to switch from a student residence permit to a working residence permit.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you do find a job, you must apply <span style=\"color: #800080;\">to switch to a work visa before the student visa expires.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The sef will not accept your application if it is submitted within <span style=\"color: #800080;\">30 days before the expiry of the student visa.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">If the visa does terminate<\/span>, you will have to return home and apply for a work visa from your home country.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Does a student visa lead to permanent residency in Portugal?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The time you lived in Portugal as a student does not count towards permanent residency.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><strong>In order to become a permanent resident, you will have to get a job offer as a highly skilled worker and switch to a (temporary) residence permit for work (work #000000;\">Yes, if you have a residence permit for studying in Portugal, you are <span style=\"color: #800080;\">allowed to work up to 20 hours per
