style=\"color: #000000;\">If the Principal Applicant is Studying as well as Working in Canada<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can invite your spouse on open work permit<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>You can apply it in the first semester of the study itself.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top: 0in; text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Spouse or Common-Law Partner Sponsorship<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Requirements for the Sponsor:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">at least 18 years of age;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Canadian permanent resident living in Canada<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">or a Canadian citizen;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cannot be in prison, bankrupt, under a removal order (if a permanent resident) or charged with a serious offence; and<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">can\u2019t have been sponsored to Canada as a spouse within the last 5 years.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Requirements for the Sponsored Person:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">at least 16 years of age<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The sponsored person must not be too closely related by blood to the sponsor<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Requirements for the nature of the relationship:<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The applicant must prove that the relationship between the sponsor and the sponsored person qualifies under one of three categories:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Spouse:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Sponsor and the Sponsored Person are legally married.<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For those married within Canada,<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Certificate of Marriage from the province or territory where the marriage took place.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If the marriage took place outside of Canada,<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It must be valid under the law of the country where it took place as well as under Canadian federal law.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Common-law partner:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">the Sponsor and the Sponsored Person must cohabit continuously for at least one year<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Spouse Work Permit<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p evaluator<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">expert witness or investigator<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">a family member of foreign representative<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">foreign government officer or representative<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">health care student<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">judge, referee or similar official<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">military personnel<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">news reporter or film and media crew<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">producer or staff member working on advertisements<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">performing artist<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">public speaker<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">religious leader<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">short-term highly-skilled worker as well as <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">researcher<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">student working off-campus or <\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">on-campus<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Apply for spouse PR<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If the Principal Applicant is a Permanent Resident in Canada<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They can Sponsor their Spouse\u2019s PR and bring him\/her to Canada.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 she:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">did not pay an immigration<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">loan, a performance bond and\/or family support payments;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">failed to support a previously sponsored relative<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0which resulted in the sponsored individual seeking social assistance<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">is under a removal order<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">either in a penitentiary, jail, reformatory or a prison;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">receives social assistance for reasons other than a disability;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">have filed for bankruptcy and have not received an &#8216;order of discharge&#8217; by the court<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">were sponsored and held permanent resident status for less than five years;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sponsored another spouse<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">partner previously and three years have not passed since the sponsored spouse<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">partner became a Canadian permanent resident;<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">have already submitted an application<\/span><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">to sponsor his or her current spouse\/partner\/child and a decision was not yet made<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">if convicted of a violent or sexual offence<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"text-align:
