Dear Student, Parents & Partners
Open your way to Permanent Residency with subclass 482, a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
TSS is a temporary visa that allows skilled workers to stay up to 2 years (Short-Term TSS) or 4 years (Medium-Term TSS) depending on the occupation. It is a sponsorship visa.
About TSS Visa
Effective from November 25, 2023, substantial changes to the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa and the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) are ushering in a more inclusive and simplified pathway to permanent residency for skilled workers in Australia. These reforms expand the TRT PR pathway to encompass a broader spectrum of occupations, moving away from the constraints of the Skilled Migration Occupation Lists. This inclusive approach now extends the opportunity for skilled workers in diverse industries, such as business, commerce, and finance, to pursue a clear and attainable route to permanent residency.
A notable adjustment is the reduction of the transition period from TSS to TRT visa, now condensed from three years to two years, enhancing the efficiency of the process for eligible applicants. Furthermore, the flexibility introduced allows short-term TSS visa applications to be submitted within Australia without any constraints on the number of applications.
These changes mark a significant stride in Australia’s commitment to attracting and retaining skilled workers, presenting a more appealing and accessible avenue for talented individuals to contribute to the nation’s ongoing growth and prosperity.
- There are no age restrictions for this type of visa.
- Aids to improve the quality, contribution, and integration of skilled migrants. It fills the shortage of skilled workers for employers who are not able to find suitable talent among Australians. They recruit overseas talents at the same time giving first preference to Australian workers. TSS visa holders have an opportunity to nominate for occupation and apply for permanent residency later on.
- As per the rules, 457 visas are replaced with a Subclass 482 visa (TSS visa). It includes a short-term list, a medium-term list, and a labor agreement stream. The visa allows the applicant to live in Australia and work full-time for an employer. The rules are similar to old Subclass 457 along with the fee structure.
