A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is an electronic letter issued by the university in support of your application for a UK student visa. It is a very important document you need to know if you are planning to study in the UK. The CAS letter is typically issued after you have accepted an offer and paid the required deposit to secure your place.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
- An electronic letter issued to you by the college or university that you have chosen to study in.
- Your CAS will be valid for student visa application for six months from the date of issue.
- You must have a CAS before applying for the UK student visa.
- Your college/University will send you a unique reference number matching with CAS which will be used in further process.
- They will also send along the information they have used to generate your CAS which is called a ‘CAS statement’ and is sent to you by email.
The CAS statement tells you the following information:
- 14 digit reference number for the CAS
- Sponsor License Number (SLN) of the university where you intend to study
- Start and end dates of your course
- Title of the course
- Tuition fees for the first year or the entire course.
- Any tuition fees that you have already paid to the university
- Any accommodation fees that you have already paid
- Assessment of your English language ability like IELTS or TOEFL scores
Important Points to Remember:
- You may obtain CAS from several different universities. But before you apply for your student visa, you must decide which university you want to study at and use the CAS from that university in your application.
- After you do that, any other CAS you have been issued is not able to use for the visa application.
- When your student visa has been granted and you enter the UK, you must study at the university/college that issued your CAS.
- Having a CAS does not guarantee that your visa application will be successful. You must meet all the requirements of a student visa application.
The documents required for CAS:
- Sponsor university license number
- Title of your course
- Start and end date of your course
- The tuition fee of the course
- The amount you have already paid for the tuition fee and the accommodation
- Scores of IELTS or TOEFL
Pre-CAS Interview
- After a grant has been received from the University of UK, the student is required to request a CAS to complete his/her admission.
- After sending the request, a date is given for an interview which is known as a Pre-CAS interview.
- The interview is held online and will take approximately 30 minutes.
- In order to have a successful admission, you must have to prepare properly for the Pre-CAS interview. Because it can make or break your chances of getting an admission into the university of your choice.
- You will be given two chances to pass the interview for each intake.
- If you fail the interview for a particular intake, you will be asked to join the next available intake.
- The university will refund the paid deposit and withdraw the offer if you fail the Pre-CAS interview.
- The university will send a CAS form/draft to fill after getting success in this interview and then the student will grant CAS.
Possible Questions Asked During Pre-CAS Interview
